ok im about to sub some hardcover books with dust jackets...

and im wondering, since obv there is no established protocol yet... how yall think images should be handled..

it seems obv that the main image should be of the front cover of the dust jacket but then what>?

should i include images of the book with the dust jacket removed? inside flaps of the dust jacket?

i guess the obv answer is yes... but i dont have a scanner right now lol so im doin it all with a camera and books are more difficult than records im realizing, like the inner pages with copyrights etc is pretty hard to get decent photos..

but yeh!! also sorta just wanted to open convo about what is required for images, what is suggested for images etc etc...

In my dream world, and what I will probably do, is this:

  1. Dust jacket front
  2. Dust jacket spine
  3. Dust jacket back cover
  4. Front cover (jacket removed)
  5. Spine (jacket removed)
  6. Back Cover (jacket removed)
  7. Title page
  8. Copyright page

I would leave out the flaps as they often are nothing but hype and marketing. HOWEVER, if there are barcodes or identifiers on the flaps, I'd stick them in between numbers 3 and 4

  1. Dust jacket front
  2. Dust jacket spine
  3. Dust jacket back cover
  4. Front cover (jacket removed)
  5. Spine (jacket removed)
  6. Back Cover (jacket removed)
  7. Title page
  8. Copyright page

This is basically what I've been doing as well.
