Antonio "Tonino" Guerra (16 March 1920 – 21 March 2012) was an Italian poet, writer and screenwriter who collaborated with some of the most prominent film directors of the world. Guerra was born in Santarcangelo di Romagna.
Guerra began writing poetry when he was interned in a prison camp in Germany, when he returned home in 1945, he found a publisher for a book, "I Scarabocc"
At 30 he moved to Rome where he worked as a teacher and screenwriter.
He has worked with directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Federico Fellini, Theo Angelopoulos, Andrei Tarkovsky and Francesco Rosi
In 1995 he was awarded with an Honorable Diploma at the 19th Moscow International Film Festival.
