I’m a freelance journalist specializing in science and the environment, and a 2012 Alicia Patterson Fellow.
I was a 2011 Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT. My reporting has taken me around the globe–from Borneo to Nicaragua, Iceland to Ethiopia.
I’ve written for The New York Times, Mother Jones, Popular Science, New York, Newsweek, Men’s Journal, Seed, Town & Country, OnEarth, Audubon, High Country News, Slate, and many other publications.
I contributed to Al Gore’s book An Inconvenient Truth, for which he hugged me under the American Museum of Natural History’s blue whale during the reception.
