Born in Singapore in 1918 he later moved to the UK where he worked at Elstree Studios as a sound engineer. In World War II he was a rear gunner with the RAF and was captured by the Germans. After the war he worked for Pathe News and later became a war correspondent in the Korean War and cameraman during the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya. He then moved to the BBC and became a senior news executive. He died in 1989.
