And why would either variation be a problem? The spacing between initials is something that even style guides disagree with, so it's pretty much a matter of opinion. :)

i suppose it isn't a problem really. i suppose i feel that there should be a standard to which we conform, but there's no real reason why.

I know the feeling... but I think it's just not worth the effort in an open database, especially since both options are correct.
